Companion Gundog Training in Nailsea, Clevedon & Portishead

Everyone wants their dog to be their best friend and this is how we get there.

Any dog can be a Gundog at heart

“Gundog” makes people think of shooting days – this is very definitely not that.

Companion gundog training is games and focus-and-engagement work that channels natural instinct into brilliant recall, calmness around distractions, and a dog that genuinely loves being near you.

No guns, no fieldwork requirement, and no breed restriction!

While a lot of the dogs here are labradors and spaniels, any family dog benefits from this kind of training. If your dog would do better with nicer lead walking, sharper recall, and staying calm when things get exciting, this is for them.

Group sessions run on Fairlight’s own private fields in Tickenham. Spaces are limited and they fill up fast, so it’s worth booking on early.

Book each class you want to attend – there is no course to commit to.

This isn’t a pay-as-you-go course where dogs are automatically moved up a level. Every dog is assessed with their guardian, and we talk through what still needs practice, this ensures nobody ever feels like they’ve “failed” a level. You move up when you’re ready, not on a schedule.

Anyone can book straight into a Rookie session. Your dog’s first class will make it clear whether some 1:1 support alongside the group would help them progress faster – and plenty of people do both together, keeping up their group sessions while working on the extra bits 1:1. If that seems like the right fit for your dog, I’ll mention it.

“What an amazing trainer Georgie is.

Her patience persistence and professionalism is amazing and the difference she has made to my dog in just a single session is extraordinary!

Anyone who needs 1:1 Gundog training would be hard fetched to find someone better in this region.

She also runs the most fun group sessions for all stages and abilities!”

“After attending puppy classes with Magic we now regularly participate in the gun dog training workshops which are always fun and we have learnt so much from.

Georgina is so supportive and makes you feel comfortable and always seems to find a way to make task easier with adaptions to help you and your dog do your best! Magic definitely agrees as she spends the whole walk from the car to the field barking with excitement!”

Do You Only Work With Gundogs?

Not at all. Companion gundog training welcomes any breed – it’s simply training that channels natural drive into brilliant recall, calm lead walking, and focus around distractions.

There’s no need for your dog to be a working breed, or to ever go anywhere near a shoot.
